I love to bake. I love being crafty. I love photography. These are things I will probably blog about most. I'm hoping to venture out my comfort zone and try some new exciting things and have lots of interesting things to share. So here we go...
I'm a fan of Dr. Pepper on Facebook and recently, they posted a link to a recipe for Dr. Pepper Brownies. I printed the recipe and decided I should give it a whirl. I LOVE Coca Cola Cake, so why not Dr. Pepper Brownies?
First things first, ingredients:
1 c. butter
1 c. Dr. Pepper (no substitutes, as ordered by the recipe)
2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
4 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. vanilla
Step one, Heat the butter and Dr. Pepper until melted and combined. Do not boil. Ok, sounds a little odd but I'm following this recipe.

Mix dry ingredients. Combine buttermilk, baking soda and vanilla. Add milk mixture to dry ingredients. Then add Dr. Pepper mixture.

This batter seemed a little too liquidy to me, but I put it in the oven to bake as directed (at 350 for 25-30 minutes). After you take the brownies out of the oven, you make the icing.
1/2 cup butter
6 tablespoons Dr. Pepper
3 tablespoons cocoa
1 box (1 lb.) powdered sugar
Bring to boil butter, Dr. Pepper and cocoa. Add 1 box powdered sugar. Spread on warm cake and cut into squares when cool. My powedered sugar didn't completely melt, so my icing was kind of lumpy:
It was late by the time I finished them, so decided to let them cool over night and cut them in the morning. Though, my whole house smelled like amazing, delicious, warm, chocolate. So this morning I HAD to have one of these for breakfast.. you know, for blogging purposes. ;-) Here is what they looked like all cooled and cut....

Sounds YUMMY Aaron... do you think you can do a DIET COKE dessert?? lol
Those look delicious!!
@Theresa, I think you could... but the sugar, butter and flour would still be fattening ;-) I actually have a few recipes that are "figure friendly" One of them even calls for diet soda! Stay tuned... :)
It is not just that the recipe sounds good, which it does, but that The Princess makes me want to go out and try it with her lyrical charisma. I look forward to regularly visiting here.
